With over two decades of experience spanning marine biotechnology, pharmaceutical innovation, and sustainable agricultural solutions, Dr. Karthikayalu Subrayalu is a distinguished leader in India’s biotech landscape. He holds a Ph.D. in Biotechnology and began his career as a research fellow at the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), where his contributions to marine toxin characterization earned international recognition.

In 2008, he founded AxioGen Biotech, a flagship enterprise that has become a trusted manufacturer of APIs, biopharmaceutical intermediates, biofertilizers, and nutraceutical compounds. Under his leadership, AxioGen signed an MoU with the Government of Tamil Nadu for a Rs. 20 Crores (200 million) investment to expand its innovation pipeline and manufacturing capabilities.

Dr. Subrayalu currently serves as Managing Director of NGAG Biotech Pvt. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of NGAG Inc. for Atlantic Power & Infrastructure located in Chennai, India. He also serves as a senior executive and technical lead across six other biotech ventures, each focused on advancing biotechnology’s applications in agriculture, environmental stewardship, and natural product research. His multidisciplinary teams of biotechnologists and chemists specialize in process innovation, enabling cost-effective product development while maintaining scientific rigor.

Notable accomplishments include:

  • Holding an Indian patent for a novel stabilized orthosilicic acid formulation (Patent No: 343935)
  • Establishing state-of-the-art R&D labs at TICEL Biopark and manufacturing units at SIPCOT SEZ, Chennai
  • Authoring several peer-reviewed papers and review articles in international journals on marine cytolysins and bioactive compounds
  • Leading expeditions as Chief Scientist aboard oceanographic vessels for deep-sea microbial bioprospecting

His ventures—ranging from Grownio Biotech’s agrimarketing innovations to NGAG Biotech’s work in bioremediation—reflect a strategic commitment to scalable sustainability and commercial viability.
