Atlantic Wind & Solar Inc. (OTC: AWSL) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Gunnar Helgason as Executive Director and head of Sustainable Living Homes Division.

Mr Gunnar Helgason, B.A., M.I.M.
Mr Helgason brings acumen and experience from a career already spanning over 20 years in management. He has lived and worked in Hong Kong and many countries throughout Asia and Europe. Prior to joining Atlantic Wind and Solar, he managed trading companies involved in consumer goods. He has a broad based education including a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Master's degree in International Management majoring in Finance and Insurance from the venerable Thunderbird School of Management.

Mr. Helgason was a developer of real estate in Hong Kong and Thailand which included the development of commercial resort properties and residential homes and condominium developments.

Commenting on the appointment Mr Helgason's words were "this is a well timed opportunity to combine my experience in real estate together with Atlantic's development initiatives. The available evidence seems to me to demonstrate that off-grid communities have succeeded and flourished in several parts of the world. Lasqueti Island or Port Neville in British Columbia which have long histories and the denser examples in Hawaii and California make a clear case. In fact the publisher of Home Power Magazine, Richard Perez notes that there were a quarter million off-grid households in the United States in 2007. This speaks to the opportunity we have."

Commenting further, "Our objective should be to leverage our business plans by engaging in ventures with appropriate parties that will be able to augment those plans and provide value for our shareholders and property owners. I'd like to see our investments in Bahamas and Colombia developed into sustainable communities using our own technologies in conjunction with heirloom foods, planned communities, and enriched learning."
